Practical Ways for Practical Days

It is a new year, time for new beginnings, resolutions and promises to others and oneself. Many of us have good intentions but we fail, fail to see the bigger picture. We fall short over and over again trying to put away sinful habits.
We ask ourselves, what makes others successful when we see we are failing? What are they doing that I’m not doing? Is it a big secret? Am I simply not strong enough? What is it?

My friend, maybe we need to see the really big picture! Like, getting to know Christ intimately. Are we trying to please others or God? Are we seeking approval from the wrong source? Shouldn’t God be the Source of all. The Source that we run to, the Source for approval, the Source for healing.

Let our resolution be; TO KNOW GOD, to seek His approval in all we do. If we do, we just might find that all other things will fall into place. Galatians 1:10 “Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.”

So how do we do that? We can start by reading His Word every day. By studying the Bible and searching for answers from the Holy One. I also add worship music to my daily time with God. To really be successful at this you must discipline yourself. I have friends who insist that they cannot find enough time in the day to spend with God. But I insist that this should and must be the most important thing that they do all day. God is waiting…waiting for us to spend time with Him. So grab your Bible and snuggle up to God’s embrace and start the New Year off the right way!
